India should surely support the resolution ,sponsored by several Western nations at the 46th sessions of the UNHRC, against Sri Lanka, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said yesterday addressing journalists in Jaffna.
Sumanthiran said that the TNA had held a number of discussions with India on the matter; there were many Tamil people in India, and therefore New Delhi should be concerned about the issues faced by the Tamils in Sri Lanka.
“India knows well the human rights violations faced by the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. It has the responsibility to exert pressure on Sri Lanka.”
Sumanthiran said that the TNA would also hold discussions with other countries. “We assume that the number of countries that are opposed to Sri Lanka at the UNHRC is increasing. The TNA will get all their support to ensure Tamils receive justice.”
