Leader of Thamizhi Makkal Tesiya Kootani or the Tamil People’s National Alliance C.V. Wigneswaran says the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) wants the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) to bag the northern and eastern electorates at the upcoming election.
The former Chief Minister of the Northern Province said so addressing the media in Jaffna on Wednesday (29).
The former Supreme Court justice alleged that senior SLPP members Dinesh Gunawardena, Keheliya Rambukwella et al had recently claimed that SLPP would win electorates outside the North and East and TNA the North and the East.
The former CM claimed he was sure his party would win in the North and the East on Aug. 5, but SLPP was trying to mislead the Tamil voters.
Wigneswaran said the SLPP wanted the TNA to win because it would be easy to manage the latter.
Former TNA MP representing the EPRLF Suresh Premachandra and Rouben (Trinco candidate under the fish symbol) were also present at the press conference.
Rouben was a former LTTE member. He was its political chief in Tiger controlled area of the Trincomalee District during the conflict.
