Gotabaya promises to rehabilitate remaining LTTE suspects but has no answer about the Thousands who surrendered and missing.
SLPP Presidential candidate Gotabaya Rajapaksa, campaigning in Vavuniya, yesterday, urged the Tamils to repose their faith in him. They should be not be cheated by politicians unlike in the past, he said stressing that he was focusing on doing his utmost for the welfare of the people.
He said he would rehabilitate 274 former LTTE cadres still held in custody and reintegrate them into society under his rule. Details of the 274 held are unknown to anyone.
“There had been around 5,000 Tamil youth at camps even before 2005. By 2015, we rehabilitated all of them except for 274 individuals. They, too, will be rehabilitated,” Rajapaksa told a rally in Vavuniya. Interestingly the current PM Ranil Wickramasinghe said that he is not aware of any LTTE Leaders who surrendered with White Flags in custody.
In May 2009 once the LTTE was wiped out Gothapaya told US embassy that now the LTTE is no more there was NO political package to be implemented. Mahinda had asked the Western countries to turn away so that he can kill all the LTTE members and the Tamil civilians in Mulikaival.
It is said that Mahinda had promised to implement his famous 13+ amendment which is more than the current constitution if he is allowed to kill all the LTTE in mulikaival in May 2009. The west turned away and more than 40,000 Tamil civilians and thousands of LTTE members who surrendered with White Flag as per UN officials request were killed in May 2009.
Mahinda Rajapaksha being a SL Sinhala racist politician refused to implement any political package and wanted to turn Sri Lanka into a Sinhala Buddhist country.
Rajapaksha urged Tamils to put aside the past where thousands of Tamil civilians were killed by his Government forces and White Vans were used to kidnap and Kill Tamil business men and politicians and look to the future.
“My policy statement for this election looks at ensuring a prosperous future for the whole country. The proposals we have made are practical proposals.”
