Investigations commence on 3000 acres under Rishad’s wife’s & brothers’ names

Investigations in connection with the complaint received by the Presidential Commission appointed to probe frauds and corruption committed in State entities from 2015 to 2018 that 3000 acres of lands in Mannar have been obtained to a business owned by Mr Rishad Bathiudeen’ wife and also in his brothers’ names using fake deeds have commenced say reports.
According to the initial investigations, it has been confirmed that the lands belong to the state and those who had been living in those lands had abandoned them during the war.
After the war, those who had been living on those lands had returned but Mr Rishad Bathiudeen’s relatives have taken over the lands paying sums of Rs. 500,000 to 1 million to former settlers of the lands.
Already 15 people have given evidence and further investigations are continuing states the Commission.
