People for Equality and Relief in Lanka (PEARL) is launching “Sinhalization of the North-East”, a series on demographic changes in the Tamil homeland.
This series examines the Tamil-speaking people’s long-standing claims of a deliberate attempt to shift the demographics of majority-Tamil speaking areas through militarization and Sinhalization. PEARL will present and analyze data gathered during multiple trips in affected areas. We will release the data in the form of infographics and articles for each affected region, and we will regularly update an interactive map.
The first part of the series focuses on Pulmoaddai, a town in the Trincomalee district.
