Reportedly the decision to dissolve the Parliament by the President yesterday (09) night was taken on the basis of receiving a Government’s Intelligence Unit report.
The confidential report has revealed that a group of former parliamentarians sided with Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe by now has decided to stand independent in the Parliament, if the Parliament was to be convened on the following 14.
The United National Party was at an effort to bring a no-confidence motion against new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe, and the relevant Intelligence Unit report has revealed that the a group of SLFP members was on a readiness to boycott the vote.
The relevant report has further revealed that another two ministers were on an attempt to resign from their positions and join with the opposition party early today (10).
According to the Intelligence Unit report, there are 68 members in favour of Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe before the no-confidence motion against him, while the rest remained to have an independent or appositive stance before him.
The Parliament was accordingly coursed on decision to sudden dissolution, and Mr. Mahinda Rajapakshe and Mr. Basil Rajapakshe have decided to step forward before the public.
