SRI LANKAN PARAMILITARY GROUP’S TORTURE CHAMBER UNCOVERED

One of the torture chambers of PLOTE, the Sri Lankan paramilitary group cum political party, has been uncovered in Jaffna city by journalists and activists.

A rusted T-56 assault rifle, a pistol and magazines have also been recovered from the abandoned torture chamber.

It is alleged by locals that the torture chamber was used in the past by PLOTE to torture to death Tamil political activists, journalists and LTTE fighters.

Following the discovery of the torture chamber, the Sri Lankan police have arrested a senior operative of the group, who is alleged to have been responsible for managing it.

Despite the mass atrocities it perpetrated against the Tamils in connivance with Sri Lanka’s regular military forces, the PLOTE has become a constituent party of the TNA, the largest political alliance in Tamil Eelam.
