Aussie Lankans reject Opposition call

mahinda-sadThe attempt by several opposition politicians to hold protests in the cities of Melbourne and Canberra, with the participation of Sri Lankans domiciled in Australia, against Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe,…… during his visit to that country, has fizzled out.

Sri Lankans, living in Australia, have severely condemned and rejected the request made by the opposition politicians to participate in the protests. The Sri Lankan residents in Australia have said that by holding protests against the Prime Minister of their own country, it would be they who would be disgraced and they were not prepared to look up and spit.

Meanwhile, it is reported that this plan, by opposition politicians, has been relayed to the Prime Minister by some Sri Lankans living in Australia.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe leaves on an official visit to Australia on Monday (13). It is the first time in 60 years that a Sri Lankan Prime Minister is engaging in an official tour of Australia.

Sources in the Prime Minister’s office said that a friendly cricket match between the Australian Prime Minister’s Team and the Sri Lankan Prime Minister’s Team has been organized for 15 February.
